Byahe.Musika.Atbp,

Hinahangaan daw nya talaga yung taong kumakanta. Bumaba ako ng bus. Lakad.

Sa dyip ulit.

Wala akong barya kaya pumasok muna sa 7 Eleven. Malamog at masarap.

Constraint Manila

I've been writing  a list of bands I’ll be featuring here in my blog site and the first on my list is Constraint.

Who is Constraint?

Constraint is a four- piece Manila-based rock band composed of Jason Grospe on vocals and guitar, Thann Bravo on guitar and sampler, Tep Aldeguer on bass and Ted Moro on drums and back-up vocals.  They were formed in the latter part of 2008 in an art exhibit in Cubao Expo. They were members of different bands. Than, Ted and Tep were in the same band that time (Dent) while Jason was still on his band Ignify. During the exhibit, they talked about their musical influences and surprisingly, they realized that they have very similar influences. Falling under the alternative rock genre, they incorporate it with heavy melodic sound.

Influences:
Nirvana  | Foo Fighters |  Silverchair |  Deftones |  Thrice |  Bullet For My Valentine |  Urbandub |  Franco

  • Recovery
  • Visions
  • At The Bitter End
  • Giving In
Super Villain Says:
I haven't seen the band perform live but I have seen their videos on Youtube. Last summer vacation I was so lucky to be a part of a music video shoot in Laguna and Constraint’s guitarist, Thann, was there. I think he was some what like a director of the video. And he gave me some stickers promoting his band. I thought this band was just like the other bands who scream nonsense. But I was wrong because the band expresses their message clearly through their songs. I thought I was listening to Urbandub, Franco and Bullet For My Valentine at simultaneously.  Clean guitar riffs, light going heavy drum beats and clear melodic vocals, what more should I say? This band rocks harder the underground music scene.

MUSIC: MAINSTREAM AND UNDERGROUND

What is the difference between Mainstream Music and Underground Music?

I know that before I start posting different articles about underground music, I should first differentiate it from mainstream just for other’s sake. J

Firstly, what is mainstream music?
Mainstream music is basically those songs you hear all over the radio played 10x a day or those that tops the countdown for weeks and even months. Mainstream bands are usually those who are privileged enough to get signed to major labels and have mall tours around the country. These artists entertain big crowds and get paid. Their songs are sung by about 7 out of 10 listeners and are really major players in the music industry.

What is Underground music then?
Underground music is also referred to as “Do-It-Yourself Music or Band”.  These musicians are known to have the talents but not the money to go mainstream.  Unlike the mainstream musicians, these underground artists are usually not under any major record labels and don’t sell out most of their albums. Their songs are not usually sung by the common mouth but by those few people who are familiar with them. Sadly, they are often treated as underdogs in the music industry.

Why will I feature the underground music?
Underground music is one of the things that really inspire my life. I consider these underground musicians as an inspiration. Basically because they create their own music and they only express what they really feel. They create music for the people who support them not for those who pay them. Though they don’t have that enough fund to produce top selling records, they do not stop producing music the way they want it to be. Their music is their choice and not by some fat guys in suits with golden necklaces. Some may consider their music as noise but if they only go deeper into the song and into the artists, they would surely know what it is all about. And that is what I am going to do in this blog. This will be all about underground music and artists  so the world can hear what they really want to say.

June 18, 2011
Tonight I officially start my newest blog and this will be all about MUSIC. (What else would you expect?) But this blog won't be about those mainstream artists but those who rocks the underground scene. I'll be featuring different bands and their music. I'll also be interpreting songs from different artist. And generally, I'll be featuring everything about the music scene here in the Philippines and more specifically here in Southern Luzon. This blog aims to uplift the underground music scene, giving it even just a little spot light but still keeping it underground. Watch out for my next blog post! :slam:
